Anyway, I'll try to explain the Bleach World the Best I can. I'm not going to be telling you the story (Screw Ichigo!) but rather, all the terms and stuff.

There are 3 Worlds. The real world, Hueco Mundo, and the Soul Society

When a person dies, their soul lives on. Usually, they pass on to Soul Society. (Heaven, in a way.) However, they are times when they cannot. It is the job of Shinigami (Soul Reapers, or Death Gods as they are known as) to help send this souls to Soul Societyi. However, even Soul Reapers cannot help all souls. Occasionally, whether from being in the real world too long, or having an evil heart, they will turn into a Hollow.

SeireiteiThe BLEACH Guide 200px-Soul_Society

They are two main souls. Pluses, which are normal, harmless spirits, and Hollows. Hollows are large, black creatures who wear white, demonic mask upon their faces. They usually have yellow eyes, and vary from Humanoid, to any shape. Hollows are evil, with the evilest being sentient. They live in Hueco Mundo, a barren white world of sand. They come to the real world to devour souls, both to nourish themselves, and become stronger. It is the duty of soul reapers to kill Hollows. Once a Hollow is killed, its soul will be purified, and travel to soul Society.

Hueco MundoThe BLEACH Guide 250px-Huecomundoopening

There are Six Main Races.

Shinigami-Protector of Souls. Shinigami live at Sereitei(The Court of Pure Souls), in the Spiritual world of Soul Society. They are organized into 13 different squads, each specializing in a different form of combat. They are several ranks. First off is Officers, whose rank is 3-7. Then, Lt., or rank number 2. Finally, there is the head, #1, a Captain. The 1st Squad Captain is known as the Head Captain, and is the main leader. Shinigami use 4 arts. Hand-to-hand combat, swordsmanship, Keido Spells, and Shunpo(Movement) Arts. The greatest power of a Shinigami is their Zanpaktou, or their Soul Cutter. With it, they are able to unleash devastating powers.

Hollow-The Hollow are a dark race, blood thirsty and high in numbers, they enjoy devouring their enemies, and thus, gaining more power. And while the average hollow can be defeated by a Shinigami, they are vast in numbers, and are cunning in skills. Hollows are ranked by Several Factors. The first gain to power is a Menos. Menoses are generally huge, and are made up of multiple hollows, with only one reigning in control. Then, they're adjuchas, which are Humanoid in appearance. Finally, they're Vasto Lordes, the most powerful a Hollow can be. Hollows have a variety of powers and special weapons. The most common weapon is Cero, an energy blast that incinerates everything in it's path.

An Average Hollow The BLEACH Guide Hollow

Human-Humans, or at least, Spiritually-aware Humans, are special living individuals who have gained Special powers from living near a high level of spiritual energy, causing an Almost Radiation-like effect. These Humans can see Spirits, and generally, have special powers. These can be unique, or can be related to a race in a way. (Examples include having a Spiritual parent, being struck by a strange force, living near Sacred sites, and basically anything you can think of.) Humans, generally in their teens, live daily lives. However, most are targets because of their large spiritual pressure, and thus, must train themselves to be able to fight Hollows, or die. Humans are usually considered Cattle by Soul Reaper, in that they're helpless, but should be protected. In the eyes of Hollows, they're nothing but food. Humans generally live in the real world, though exceptions are possible. Human's powers are even more unique then a Shinigamis, and usually, two are never the same, in appearance, powers, or personality.

Quincy-A Quincy is a special Human, with inherited Spiritual powers. Unlike a Human, these individuals all have similar powers. The Quincy clan has existed for hundreds of years, specializing in Ranged combat and using Bows made of Spiritual particles in the Air. Quincys are Hollow hunters, striking down Hollows with their bows and Arrows. However, while when a Shinigami kills a Hollow, it is purified, the soul sent to Sereitei to reborn eventually, Quincy's kills do not, and completely destroy the soul. Because of this, Shinigami's held a large resentment towards Quincys for their destructive ways, which the Quincys mutually held. However, the Quincys soon developed less lethal bows, which prevented the Shinigami from needing to act. Still, however, lies the resentment between Shinigami and Quincy, giving them a "Bitter Alliance" at best. Quincys use Pentacles, metal focuses to create their bows, and use them to fire Arrows. Generally, a Novice uses a basic pentacle, a simple cross, which creates a basic bow made of blue energy. Meanwhile, a master will use a specialize bow, usually one of a kind, and will be made of more solid materials, though, the principle of firing spiritual particles remains.

Vizard-The Vizards are a secretive group, Vizard meaning the "Masked Forces." A Vizard is a once Shinigami who has gained the powers of a Hollow. Vizards are considered rogues, and thus, are shunned by other Shinigami. It is said that a group of Vizards have hidden themselves on earth, free from the tyranny of the hating Shinigami. A Vizard's power is represented by a Mask, similar to a hollows, upon their face. By placing it, they are able to use special powers, increase ability, and powerful attacks such as Cero. Despite their strength, however, they are few in numbers.

A VizardThe BLEACH Guide 110-1

Arrancar-An Arrancar is a Hollow who has removed his Mask, and gained the powers of a Shinigami. Arrancar are considered the strongest form a Hollow can take, and are deadly foes even for a Captain. Arrancar, though more numerous then their Vizard Counterparts, are still rare. An Arrancar's power is based on when it removes his Mask, and his ranking number. The elite top 10 Arrancar are known as the Espada. They are the strongest Arrancar, and most feared, even among their own race. Arrancar, like Shinigamis, carry Zanpaktous, which allow them to transform themselves into a more hollow form, known as, Resurrection.

In-depth Guide-The Shinigami.

We'll Start with a Video.

Now, if you're lazy and skipped the video, or were like, "WTF!?", then I'll start here.

The Shinigami, also known as Soul Reapers and Death Gods, are those who have died and gained spiritual powers in the after life. A Soul with Spiritual powers who lives in the Soul Society will eventually find themselves a strange hunger. Normal Spirits do not require food to live. However, those with Spiritual Powers do. Eventually, they will enter the Shinigami Academy, where, depending on a Test, they will be placed into classes, usually normal or advance Freshman classes. (Yes, its collage for the Spiritual. XP) Over the course of years, they will graduate and become Shinigami. Depending on their skills, they will be assigned to the squad that matches them the most. Occasionally, those with skills are promised an Officer Position because of their talent.

A Shinigami
The BLEACH Guide Chara_01

Once graduating from the Academy, Shinigami will be placed within one of the 13 Court Guard Squads, also known as the Gotei 13. There are many ranks within each squad, with 7 Seats. 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, and 3rd are Officer ranks. These show that you have authority and have some skill. Usually, but not always, the ranks are dependant on rank. The Second Seat is known as the Lt., or the Vice Captain. Lt.s are the aides of the leader of the squad, and usually, are the strongest other then their Captain. They wear special badges on their arms during formal occasions, signifying their rank.

A Captain
The BLEACH Guide Byakuya2

Finally, there is the Captain's rank. The Captain is the strongest and most powerful of their squad, and are generally respected, even by members of other squads. Captains are signified by the White Coats they generally wear over their normal outfit. The symbol of their Squad is placed on the back of their uniform. Most often customize their uniforms to their own personal preference, from small changes to drastic.

The Thirteen Court Guard Squads
The BLEACH Guide 300px-GoteiFlower

The Captain of the 1st Squad is known as the Head Captain, and is the General of the Shinigamis. He is Supreme Commander, his word being law. He is generally the strongest and eldest of the Captain. All other captains look up to him and follow his law, though the degree varies.

The Zanpaktou

The BLEACH Guide 200px-Ichigo_with_zanpakutou

The Zanpaktou is a tool used by the Shinigami. They have several powers, and variations in decoration, size, and strength. A Zanpaktou is sword made of hardened Spiritual Energy, and unlike normal Steel, have the power to cut through spiritual flesh, such as Hollows. The Zanpaktou's also have the power to send Spirits to the Sereitei. A Zanpaktou has it's own Soul as well, which is part of the user as well. Generally, Zanpaktou have matching personalities, though this is not always the case. By connecting with their Zanpaktou through communication to the spirit, the user is able to perform powerful techniques.

A Zanpaktou is often customized through appearance. Color, length, width, shape, hilt, guard, and more are characteristics that most Zanpaktou have. The length is generally that of normal Sword. However, there are occasions when a sword is shorter then usual, or, when the Blade is larger, more of a Zanbato then a Katana. These instances, however, are generally just a side effect of the user's inability to control their Spiritual Pressure effectively. Zanpaktous can be used by other people, however, because of their lack of connection with the Spirit, it makes this extremely difficult. However, it is believed that this is possible if the user willing gives up his Zanpaktou to another individual.

Shikai-The Initital Release

(Contains Spoilers)

The Powers of the Zanpaktou

By communing with the Zanpaktou, the user is able to, if he has the power, learn the name of his Zanpaktou. Once done so, he will be able to transform it by calling out it's name with a Command. This will give the user new powers, and often changes the blade's form as well, to such points that it doesn't even look similar to a sword. A Zanpaktou's name often is affiliated with it's form or powers. (Example: Zangetsu. Cutting Moon. The blade is a Scimitar. It has the power to fire Moon shaped blasts.)

Shikai-The Shikai (First Release) is the first upgrade of the Zanpaktou, and is activated by the user calling out its name along with a command. The Shikai usually has only a few powers, but can often used for several types of attacks. Generally, there are 3 Main Types, with many sub versions and some that fall under none of them. Melee, Such as Zabimaru, Kido Based, such as Yummichika's, and Elemental, such as Toshio's. Shikais can be manually sealed by sheathing the sword. If the user can use Bankai, the command is not required. Certain Shikais remain in form forever. These are known as Full Time Release Forms. (Example, Zangetsu.)

A Spirit and it's ShinigamiThe BLEACH Guide Ichigo_zangetsu

Shikais can be used by Experienced Soul Reapers, and thus, are very common among the ranks. Shikai's usually have Special Attacks, which can be used by taking Spiritual Energy. These attacks are often related to the name or appearance of the Shikai, and often have more powerful forms in Bankai.

BANKAI!!!!!!
WARNING! CONTAINS EXTREME SPOILERS!

Bankai- The Bankai (Final Release) is the ultimate activation of a Zanpaktou's power, drastically changing the Sword, and usually the user as well. Unlike a Shikai, a Bankai's powers are impossible to categorize easily, because of the many differences in then. Few common traits are recognized, other then most Bankai are large, though a few are smaller. To use Bankai, the user must do a special training in which they have their Spirit physically exist in the real world, thus allowing the Spirit to test the user. A Bankai, even after achieved, can take years to fully master. However, there is said to be other ways to use Bankai, though this is unproven. For those new to Bankai, it can be a trump card as much as a weakness. New Bankai users have a high risk of losing control or utilizing their Bankai's in a such a way that can be dangerous for the user. This makes Bankai risky, even for a Master, and reserved if possible. It also takes an extreme amount of spiritual pressure for the release alone, and thus, can be very taxing. Bankai are usually a more powerful version of the Shikai, having similar, but strength abilities, though this is not always true. Bankai is believed to have an unlimited amount of powers, that can generated through training and linking to their Spirit.

Bankais often have powerfuler versions of the abilities their Shikai's Already had. Bankai are said to have the potential to continuously grow. They are at such a Level, that, even though possible for an Officer, it is only Captains that always contain the Bankai, with Vice-Captains, usually those who will soon become Captain, possess them. To become a Captain, it is required to use Bankai. However, they're instances where exceptions are made, usually because of their skill that the user has without being forced to use Bankai.

The Quincys

The Quincy Clan has existed for hundreds of years, fighting Hollows and other evil spirits, protecting the real world from the evil that the Shinigamis have failed to protect. They are a unique clan, utilizing ranged weapons made from Spiritual Particles in the air. This can be deadly for opponents. They have a variety of tools and skills which allows them to hunt and kill Hollows. The Quincys are also well-known for their unique control or Spiritual particles, as well as their usually high Intellect. They also have an easier time doing so in spiritual worlds such as Hueco Mundo and Soul Society, making even a Novice seem dangerous.

Quincys
The BLEACH Guide 300px-Quincy_%28Bleach%29

Quincy's use special items known as Quincy Crosses to form their bows. Quincy crosses are often small, otherwise orential items such as Pentacles or crosses. They are many varietys, just as they're bows. By drawing in surrounding spiritual particles, they are able to focus the energy and create a Bow from it, as well as other weapons. They are many items which can increase or supplement a Quincy's powers, making them versatile and deadly.

The Quincy

Quincys usually live otherwise normal lives among Humans. They go to School, have jobs, and families. It is usually common for families to live in Dojos, where they can both live, and train themselves, unlocking their unique powers. Quincys are targeted by Hollows, just like other Spiritual Humans. However, being trained in combat from birth, most are able to kill a Hollow with a single shot without looking back. The quincys have diminished over the years, partly because of Shinigami resentment, but families still exist, keeping on the Cross which represents them.

The BLEACH Guide RyuukenLongBow
A Quincy with his own unique Bow, wearing a suit.

Quincy's have a variety of unique tools, other then their own personal bows. These include Seele Schneide, energy-like blades that cut like Saws, the Sanrei glove, a special focus which increases a Quincy's power, Silver Tubes, which are capable of generating Kido-like effects, and more. They also specialize in a movement technique, that is said to surpass even Shunpo, as well as other powers. Quincy also use a secret release known as final form. This form is a special power that can only be achieved by using special ways or items. Usually, this will end in the user being unable to use his Quincy powers for a time. However, while in the Quincy Final Form, the user is able to draw huge amount of Reiatsu, tearing apart walls made of reiatsu, as shown. This energy will then form a wing-like attachment, a sign of the power being stored. This allows the user to fire a high-powered shot, capable of destroying even Bankais. However, few can control this, making it both risky and dangerous.

The Hollows

A Hollow is often described as a Monster, or a fallen spirit. Hollows appear in many shapes and sizes, and are different as one Animal is to another. They are cunning, stealthy, and deadly, using whatever tricks or ploys are nessasary to win. They are ever existant, and no matter how many killed, they will continue to live on. A Hollow is characterized by several thing, but mainly, by the Mask they wear on their face, representing their Soul, and their hole in their chest, representing that their heart and soul chain have been removed. Hollows are classified by several factors, with Normal Hollows more or less same power, followed by the Menoses, which are classified into 3 groups. Gillians, Adjuchas, and Vastolordes.

The Monsterous Hollows
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK_X9Et-bOA

(The [Youtube] thing ain't working.)

The path to Hollowification happens in two Key ways. First, if a Soul is unable to pass on and is not helped by a Shinigami, it's Soul Chain will eventurally disappear. This causes the hole in one's chest to open, and slowly, a mask to form, creating a new Hollow. The Hollow's first urges is often to attack someone they knew in their life, often making the they cared most about their first Victim. Most Hollows are evil, seeking only to eat. However, they are cases in which certain Hollows retain their intelligence. These are either special cases, like Nel Tu, or those who's pure malice makes them become a Hollow from death. These evil individuals recieve special judgement when killed, being sent to Hell, rather then the Soul Society.

The BLEACH Guide 180px-Gates_of_hell_bleach

Menos-A Menos is a special Hollow that has merged or eaten countless other Hollows and has gained a certain amount of power. Menoses are required to be canninbalistic even on their own kind to exist. Menos are created when the void within an ordinary hollow's heart becomes so substantial that human souls are incapable of sustaining it, at which point it begins devouring fellow hollows. These cannibal hollows are attracted to one another, and a mass inter-devouring follows, resulting in a gillian. Following this transformation, the gillian can evolve twice more, first into an adjuchas and finally into a vasto lorde, provided certain conditions are met. Menos evolution is not only contingent upon the menos eating other hollows, but also upon the menos' ability to avoid being eaten. If another hollow succeeds in devouring a part of their body, evolution becomes impossible.

A Low-Class Menos
The BLEACH Guide Menosgrande

Gillian are the weakest class of menos and the first stage of menos evolution. They are giant in comparison to other hollows, dwarfing even the largest standard hollows by at least the size of a two-story building, but lack agility and intelligence. While a gillian-class menos is quite powerful, they are still much weaker than a shinigami lieutenant. They are comparable to "foot-soldiers", reflected in their uniform appearance. In Soul Society, gillians are known as menos grande and are shown in textbooks discussing menos. Gillains are the largest group of Menoses, however, there are exceptions of when a Menos has retained some Intelligence and are different then the usual kind.(Players playing as Menoses.)

Adjuchas are the medium class of menos in terms of power, and the second stage in the menos evolution. Adjuchas can vary radically in appearance, from bulky humanoids to the jaguar-like form of Grimmjow Jeagerjaques. Unlike the gillians, they are roughly a little over human-sized. They are also much smarter than the gillians and have the power to match. It is likely they could fight evenly with at least a shinigami lieutenant. They watch over the many gillian-class menos, and have authority over them. Adjuchas-class menos are much smaller in population compared to the Gillian class, due to the rarity of any one hollow being capable of overwhelming the many other hollows that comprise the body of a gillian. Furthermore, the adjuchas must continue to devour hollows, or its mind will be absorbed by the hollows comprising its form and it will revert back into a gillian. The subsequent lack of an individual will also preclude the reverted gillian from becoming an adjuchas again.

Shadow of a Vasto Lorde
The BLEACH Guide 180px-Vastolorde

Vasto lorde are the most powerful class of menos, and the final stage in the menos evolutionary line. They appear almost completely humanoid, except that they wear a Mask, and each one is strong enoguh to contend even with Captains. Vasto lorde are the least common form of menos, but the exact population is unknown. They are believed to reside within the very depths of Hueco Mundo. Apart from the need to cannibalize even more hollows, any special requirements for the creation of a vasto lorde are unknown. Vasto Lordes are the final different between a Hollow, and an Arrancar. Vasto Lordes have authority under all weaker Hollows, and are feared as much as an Arrancar.

Humans live, breathe, walk. They live, ignorant all save a few, of the Spirits that reside in the world. On Occasion, a Human will become Spiritually aware, whether simply sensing or seeing Spirits, and will live in fear instead of ignorance. They must learn to protect themselves, or them, and possibly family, will die. Spiritually aware individuals either gain their power from a relative, from being over exposed to spiritual activity, or other transformations. The powers obtained often only result in the most basic of powers. However, some are able to obtain unique abilities, which, when trained with, can match the power of any Shinigami. Their powers are believed to be even more varietized then a Zanpaktou's, or even a Hollows. They can bend reality, destroy it, or even create. Their powers are whatever they will to be. On occasions, their powers will be based on another race's powers.(Example, Chad's power is related to Hollows.) or another individuals. (Orihime's spawned from Ichigo's.) However, it will be the Human alone who can use them.

The BLEACH Guide 180px-Shunshunrikka

Human life, even when aware, is still normal. They go to school, have jobs, just like Quincys. They have families, friends, habits, and everything else one could think of. Humans, while looked down upon by Shinigami, though of as food by Hollows, relations strained with Quincys, and Vizards having a certain enmity towards them, are amazing people. Some are bad, others are good. Some would fight Hollows. Others would join them. Humans have the potential for just about anything. Because of this, their powers are constantly developing, and becoming stronger, exceeding limits that some believed impossible.

Chad's New Arm
The BLEACH Guide ChadNewArm

Humans are in someways, Freelancers, or mercenaries. While most seek to simply live on, others wish to join Humans other Humans or Quincys for their own goals. Other, whether for revenge or simply to gain power, join Hollows. Some even wish to become Shinigami one day, and thus, use their powers inaccordance with Seireitei's will. Some even join the Vizards, a rogue amongst all feeling at home with them. However, no matter what they do, Humans will be targeted by at least one side, making them, and earth, a conflict.

A Normal Day in Human Life.

The Vizards

The Vizard are of once Shinigami who have gained the powers of a Hollow. They are the opposites of Arrancar. A Vizard appears completely Human, with no defining features marking them. They are Ex-Shinigamis, who because of their Hollow powers, are considered rogues, and should be killed on site. Because of this attitude towards them, the Vizards now live on Earth in secret Hideouts, usually defended by barriers which both prevent unwanted guests and shield their reiatsu. A Vizard's key ability, and the one that marks then as the "Masked Forces", is a white mask, identical to a Hollows, which they can produce on will. When worn, they will become incrediably strong and able to use Hollow powers, such as Cero. The Vizards, however, despite their grand powers, are small, and thus, are less of a threat to Soul Society then the more imminenent and larger counterparts, the Arrancar.

A Vizard wearing his Mask
The BLEACH Guide Image:ShinjiMaskAnimeEp140

To be able to use Hollowification, or to don a Mask, all depends on the will of the user. Generally, a Shinigami will find themselves, during battle, protected by a Mask, which, for example, will appear and blunt an attack. Similar events, such as hearing a voice during battle, or when growning near death find their body moving on it's own, is common. In reality, it is their Inner Hollow who is doing all of this. Like a Zanpaktou, an Inner Hollow is a source of power, and part of their Soul. As Ichigo's Inner Hollow said, "I am...Zangetsu!" Zangetsu being the name of his Zanpaktou. The Inner Hollow's Nature will vary from Hollow to Hollow, but most will have the same single desire. To take over the body. At first, he is unable to, but as time passes, he will become more and more powerful, beginning to take over the body whenever the host is unable to save himself. If the user gives in, the Hollow will take complete control, and the host's body will slowly mold itself into a crude twist between Hollow and Shinigami, even more so then the Arrancar. During such events, the host will find himself within the World of his Zanpaktou, and may have to fight his Spirit multiple times to take control forever. How this is done so, varies.

The Vizard have a Hierarchy of a sorts, where those with expereince and power with their Mask, as well as Zanpaktou, are higher ranked. There are 4 main ranks. Before a Vizard can take control of his Hollow, he is simply a Shinigami. Once he has, regardless of rank or skill, he will be known as a Vizard, an official member of the group. Later on, those who have achieved great skill with Mask and Sword alike are known as Knights, while those who achieved Bankai are named Lords. Finally, the Vizard Leader reigns supreme, and is often, but not always, the eldest and most skilled with his Mask.

In battle, the vizard use their hollow powers to augment their shinigami abilities, granting them massive increases in speed, stamina, and strength. They also gain access to some of the common hollow abilities, such as cero blasts. Bodily harm can seemingly be ignored while wearing their masks, as demonstrated by Ichigo's hollow during his unwilling transformations. The combined power of the Mask and sword make a Vizard able to excell to such levels that surpass both Hollow and Shinigami alike, making them dangerous in battle.
